A look that stays fresh all day is not a secret. It is a plan. It is a series of small, simple steps that we take together. This is the part of your wedding you do not have to worry about.

Our plan starts before the day

Lasting makeup is about teamwork. Your part starts a few months before your wedding week.

Book a preview, and make it a real test. Our bridal makeup preview is where we design your look together. But it is also a dress rehearsal for your skin. Keep the makeup on all day. Notice how it feels. Take photos in different kinds of light. This helps us see how the makeup wears on your skin, so we know just how it will hold up on the wedding day.

Keep your skin routine simple and steady. The months before your wedding are not the time to try a dozen new products. Your skin loves consistency. When we know how your skin behaves, I can choose products that will make it happy. You can see my month by month guide on how to prepare your skin for the wedding.

Plan treatments with time to spare. Facials, waxing, and other skin treatments are wonderful. Just be sure to schedule them a few weeks before the wedding. This gives your skin plenty of time to settle down and be at its best.

Tell me about your whole week. Your Sangeet look has a different job than your Reception look. One needs to survive dancing and heat. The other needs to be perfect for hours of photos. When I know the plan for every event, I can create the right look for each one.

Especially for the South Asian bride

I have spent 15+ years working with South Asian brides. I understand the unique rhythm of your wedding week.

I know a heavy dupatta can brush against your cheek. I know a saree fitting might happen after your makeup is done. I plan for these things. I set the areas the fabric touches differently. I make sure your shoulder and neck makeup is transfer resistant.

I also know that by the Reception, your skin has been through several long, joyful days. It will behave differently than it did on day one. I see this, and I adapt. I never just copy a look from a previous day. I create a fresh look that works for your skin at that very moment. It is all part of how we ensure a calm wedding morning.

My part: building your look that lasts

On the day, you can relax. My technique is built on experience.

It starts with clean, happy skin. On your wedding morning, wash your face with a gentle liquid cleanser, not a bar of soap.⁴ Then moisturize. The most important step is to let it sink in completely. This little pause allows the makeup to bond with your skin, not your moisturizer.

I build in thin, light layers. One thick coat of foundation can crack and settle into lines. Many thin, carefully blended layers create a finish that looks like skin, moves with your expressions, and lasts for hours.

I use powder only where you need it. Your face is not the same all over. Some spots get shiny, others stay matte. I can see the difference.² I only press powder where your skin naturally produces more oil, like the sides of your nose or the center of your forehead. Your skin still looks like skin, just perfected.

We check the look in three different lights. Before you leave my chair, we do a final check. We look at your makeup in natural light by a window, in warm indoor light, and with a quick phone flash. The flash test is my secret weapon. It instantly shows if the makeup is a perfect match. You can see the beautiful results in my gallery of real brides.

A note about your eyes. Let’s open a fresh mascara and eyeliner for your wedding day. It is a small thing, but it is a safety step I always take. Some preservatives in older products can be irritating to the delicate eye area.⁵ This is just a little precaution to keep your eyes feeling comfortable and looking bright all night long.

Your touch-up kit for the evening

I will prepare a small kit for you with everything you might need. Give it to your sister or a bridesmaid to hold.

The most important tip is this: blot before you powder.

If you feel a little shiny after a few hours of dancing, press a blotting paper gently onto your skin. Do not rub. This lifts away the oil without disturbing your makeup. Most of the time, this is all you will need.
